1. Our Commitment

Luminary (operated by Jolly Good Web) is committed toensuring that our website and online learning platform are accessible to thewidest possible audience, regardless of ability or the technology used toaccess them.

We believe that everyone should have equal access toeducation and creative learning resources. We actively work to ensure ourplatform meets recognised accessibility standards and provides a positiveexperience for all users, including those with disabilities.

2. Accessibility Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content AccessibilityGuidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the WorldWide Web Consortium (W3C) and are the internationally recognised benchmark forweb accessibility.

The four principles of WCAG require that web content is:

•      Perceivable: information and user interface components must bepresentable to users in ways they can perceive

•      Operable: user interface components and navigation must be operableby all users

•      Understandable: information and the operation of the user interface mustbe understandable

•      Robust: content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a widevariety of user agents, including assistive technologies

3. What We Are Doing

We are taking the following measures to ensureaccessibility on Luminary:

•      Including accessibility aspart of our design and development process

•      Using semantic HTML toensure proper document structure and navigation

•      Providing text alternativesfor non-text content, including alt text for images

•      Ensuring sufficient colourcontrast between text and background elements

•      Designing forms with clearlabels, instructions, and error messages

•      Ensuring the website isnavigable using a keyboard alone

•      Making interactive elementsclearly identifiable with visible focus indicators

•      Using responsive design sothe website works across different devices and screen sizes

•      Providing clear andconsistent navigation across all pages

•      Reviewing and testing ourwebsite regularly for accessibility issues

4. Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, werecognise that some areas of our website may not yet fully meet all guidelines.Known areas where we are working to improve include:

•      Some older course contentuploaded by third-party creators may not yet include full alternative text orcaptions

•      Certain interactive ordecorative visual elements may not be fully described for screen reader users

•      Video content may not yethave closed captions or transcripts available in all cases

We are actively working to address these areas andwelcome feedback from our users to help us prioritise improvements.

5. Compatibility with Assistive Technology

Our website is designed to be compatible with commonlyused assistive technologies, including:

•      Screen readers (such asJAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver)

•      Screen magnificationsoftware

•      Speech recognition software

•      Keyboard-only navigation

We test our website using a combination of automatedtools and manual testing with assistive technologies to identify and resolveissues.
